Orchids make excellent gifts thanks to the beautiful flowers that they produce. So it’s no surprise that these stunning plants have boomed in popularity in recent years. But how do you care for them?

Well Orchids are found naturally growing in tropical climates all over the world. So they thrive in warm heat and high humidity. However they are incredibly resilient plants, so as long as they are kept in a bright spot out of direct sunlight they should be more then happy growing inside your home. Feed with orchid plant food when the plant is flowering and repot once the flowers stop. Just remember that Orchids have air roots as they normally grow on the side of a tree, absorbing a lot of there nutrients from the air.

You should try and use a fast draining potting mix when repotting orchids. Otherwise you could suffocate the plants which could lead to root rot!
