Schlumbergera or more commonly known as the Christmas cactus, unlike their desert dwelling relatives can be found growing in South-Eastern Brazil on rocks or in woodland habitat. So they require a bright but shaded light source. These beautiful plants are also one of the few types of cacti suited to higher humidity. However as with most cacti you should only water these plants when the soil is dry to the touch!
The Christmas cactus are known for their abundance of bright pink, red, or purple flowers that bloom from around November until January. Hence the name Christmas Cacti.
